Political pandering is defying logic

Now that the 2008 Democrat primary has finally been resolved (?) and a candidate has been chosen, I would like to analyze the controversy regarding racism and sexism that has evolved. It seems from watching this primary to the point of nausea and listening to the related rhetoric from both sides, the following appears to be true.

If you’re a white-American and do not vote for Obama because he is black, it is racism. But if you’re a black-American and vote for Obama because he is black, it is not racism. If you’re a male-American and do not vote for Hillary because she is female, it is sexism. But if you’re a female-American and vote for Hillary because she is female, it is not sexism. Confusing huh?

It is good for all of us that an African-American and a woman are competing for the top billing on a presidential ballot for the first time in the history of our great country. But this political pandering about race and gender defies logic, is detrimental to the cause and limits the electability of both candidates in the general election next fall.

I submit that if you are an American and vote for John McCain it is neither racism nor sexism. It is quite simply the right thing to do. McCain has proven to me to be his own man and his presidency would not be the third term of George Bush as has been expressed by the Democrats. For years, their mantra has been to bash Bush for everything possible with little or no substantial gain in their own political contribution and now they want to continue the dogged process into the McCain candidacy. Just what have the Democrats accomplished since taking over the House and Senate after the election of 2006? The answer is: absolutely nothing positive.

I expect that Hillary will not be offered the position as vice president for the Democrats. The huge Clintonesque baggage and hypocrisy that would come along with her would not play well on the ticket in the general election. I’m sure Obama does not want Bubba running around the hallways and offices indiscriminately boinking interns, while secretly having pizzas delivered to the back door of the White House in the middle of the night.

The above is just one’s man’s opinion. No matter your candidate, be sure to vote.

Mr. Jordan asks, "Just what have the Democrats accomplished since taking over the House and Senate after the election of 2006? "

Answer: Just about everything George Bush and the Republicans have wanted.

I still say that McCain should ask Hillary to be his running mate, then the Republicans can elect a Conservative Nominee. The problem with McCain is that he is more of a Libertarian than he is a Republican.
Race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, handicap, etc. are all off limits. Age is not. The only thing inevitalbe in life unless you die young, is growing old.

And it's too bad... I WANT to think that the southern Oregon coast has slightly more intelligent individuals than the idiot white masses in a state like West Virginia (the state with the former KKK member who is a Senator). But that's just a pipe dream anymore.

Boy, there's some ignorance afoot. It really is sad that there are so many people in this community who will willfully stay misinformed or uneducated, but will then accuse others of crying foul.

I did witness people crying about sex and race... oddly enough, in almost every instance, it was someone in the Clinton campaign (in spite of the "memos" that have been passed around on "the internets," the Obama campaign stayed above the fray). The majority of African Americans supported the Clintons, at least until Bill turned the race into a real issue of race after South Carolina.

Also, in spite of what some in the white community think (I used to think this... you know, when I was 10 years old), Al and Jesse DO NOT speak for the African American community... they speak for themselves, as individuals who are trying to make money, not improve justice or racial harmony.

And seeing the comment about "Marxist" ideas... wow. Just wow. At least you didn't say "Barack Hussein Napoleon Pol-Pot Obama" or whatever flavor-of-the-week idiocy passes as "fact" in the inner-circles of ignorant, uneducated Americans.

Richard...Sounds like your'e having a difficult time not focusing on racism and sexism. And I find it more difficult to imagine that you think that McCain can seperate himself from the Republican Party and a contiuation of their goals. Can you really be happy and want more of what they've created and where we're at!!

For six long years Republicans had total control over the presidency, the Senate and the House and did nothing but rubber stamp a criminal administration and distract the public with nonsense issues like flag burning, one man and one woman and flag pins. All the while introducing legislation that would enrich themselves and their corporate cronies.

Democrats have a very slim majority and the Republicans have threatened to filibuster every good piece of law that has been introduced. They have created gridlock and are looking out for their own while the American people suffer under high gas and food prices and our men and women are in harms way in Iraq.

This country has had Reagan, Bush, Clinton and now Bush....all have been corporate presidents. It's time for a change.

Richard, I mirror your opinion. But I am goiing to take it one step further. If Barack does not win. No matter how close he gets with electoral votes or popular votes, the "justice brothers" ole Al and Jesse are going to say that America is a racist country just like they have been saying all along for years. I believe that the Assination of MLK and the fact the James Earl Ray was convicted so quickly of the crime just establishes that fact. Never mind the fact the Obama has Marxist ideas that will run the country into the ground deeper. Never mind that Hamas and the other Terror Groups over in the Middle East endorse him to the fullest. Need I say More?

This answer requires noting that Democrats barely have a majority in the Senate, and Republicans under its rules have blocked every positive measure.

GOP politicians have failed at everything except enriching themselves and cronies at our expense, and most Americans are way past being sick and tired of you people now ......... enjoy your retirements.
