Friday, June 6, 2008 11:27 AM PDT

MCMINNVILLE (AP) — A replica of the lunar rover, which transported Apollo astronauts across the surface of the moon, is one of the hundreds of items that will go on display in Evergreen’s new space museum in McMinnville.

Rockets, satellites, supersonic vehicles and moon landing craft will be featured in Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum’s new building — to open Friday.

The new 120,000-square-foot building is a twin to the original, which houses the giant Spruce Goose and other historic aircraft.

This one is dedicated to space, from the first dreams of space travel to the satellite technology of today.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. Opening day admission will run $20 per person.

Following the special opening, admission will be less.
