PORTLAND (AP) — Stopping a suspected drunken driver and finding a cache of more than $61,000 had state and local officers raising their eyebrows.

But the State Police said Friday that a drug dog and a search turned up no illegal drugs, so the case has been sent to Lane County prosecutors to see whether they can make a money-laundering case of it.

The police said the car was stopped May 20 near Cottage Grove, where an officer noted it wasn’t keeping to one lane of traffic.

The occupants were the 38-year old driver and a 21-year old passenger, both southern California men.

Officers say the two haven’t been charged.

Why do you think that drug trafficers pay people to drive large amounts of money for them??? I dont think we should complain when we get money back that is most likely ours ... In some way or another.... Why would 2 men from California have 61,000 cash???????

Let me get this right. The police suspect you are a drunk driver and pull you over. They use drug dogs and find nothing but large sum of cash so they will find some crime to charge you with. I've been saying for years that the cops are the ones we have to watch out for. They rape, molest children, hunt illegally and do drugs. Some officers are honorable but it is obvious that they are few and far between.

To my knowledge it has never been a crime to carry a large amount of cash and these officers should lose their jobs over this harassment!
