J.R. Herbst and Julie Ann Cummings, both of Coos Bay, were married on Feb. 28, 2008, in Maui, Hawaii, at the Hanakao’o Beach Park in Kaanapali.

The bride is the daughter of Darlene and Chuck Ward, of Coos Bay and Phillip Cummings, of Eugene. She is a 1994 graduate of Marshfield High School and she graduated in 2001 from Oregon State University, where she majored in nutrition science. She is currently working at Bay Area Hospital as a clinical dietitian.

The groom is the son of Patricia Davis, of Coos Bay and John and Sherri Herbst, of Torrington, Wyo. He is a 1995 graduate of Marshfield High School and he graduated in 2002 from Oregon State University, where he majored in environmental science. He is an environmental specialist for the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians in Coos Bay.

More than 30 friends and family members joined J.R. and Julie in their celebration of love in Maui, including their 17-month-old son, Noah. Honored in memory and spirit were the brother of the bride, the late Michael Phillip Cummings and the sister of the groom, the late Elizabeth Shae Herbst.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Maui.
