Saturday, May 24, 2008 8:21 AM PDT

All major Oregon state campgrounds will be open for the Memorial Day weekend with some campsites still unreserved on the South Coast.

At Bullards Beach State Park two miles north of Bandon, electrical improvements were finished ahead of schedule giving the park an unexpected boost in reservable campsites for the weekend. All three of its campground loops are in operation with electrical service upgraded (up to 50 amps) in its 64 B-loop recreation vehicle sites. The park has a total of 185 RV campsites.

State park campsites may be reserved up to two days before arrival dates by calling Reservations Northwest, (800) 452-5687, or online through www.oregonstateparks.org.

State parks with first-come, first-served camping on the South Coast are:

n Alfred A. Loeb, 10 miles east of Brookings;

n Carl Washburne, 14 miles north of Florence;

n Cape Blanco, nine miles north of Port Orford; and

n Humbug Mountain, six miles south of Port Orford.
