South Coast readers often have different preferences in reading material than those elsewhere. Here are the top-five sellers this week at Books By the Bay in North Bend, according to owner Trish Price:
In “Steve Prefontaine: Rocketman” by Bree Donovan and Linda Prefontaine, Bree Donovan, a New Jersey author, wants to bring an American running legend to the consciousness of schoolchildren and young adults. She and Steve’s sister are taking the story of the charismatic distance runner known simply as “Pre” to a whole new level and generation. Proceeds from the book go to Blossom Gulch School
“Audition: A Memoir” by Barbara Walters brings her story, her interviews to life.
Jimmy Buffett brings us “Swine Not?: A novel pig tale.” This is a departure from his normal "pirate" tales, but an enjoyable read.
“Counselor: A Life at the Edge of History” by John F. Kennedy’s closest adviser, Ted Sorensen, shares with us an insider’s view of Camelot and the historical events of our nation’s past.
Jeff Shaara’s newest World War II novel, “The Steel Wave,” continues his gripping series with the story of D-Day. |
