Police investigate kitten abuse case

Friday, May 23, 2008 |
Coquille Police are asking for assistance in a case of animal abuse involving two 5-week-old kittens.
According to the Coos Bay Police log, at about 9:29 a.m. on May 16, a cardboard box with kittens was reported by a customer at Joe’s Place, 750 W. Central Blvd. The kittens had been tied together by their necks and their legs were bound. One died as a result of this treatment, which police are considering to be a case of first-degree animal abuse.
The surviving gray kitten was given to a Coos County animal control officer, taken to the Coos County Shelter and placed in a foster home.
Coquille police ask that if residents have any information about the incident, they call the department at 396-2114. A reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this crime.
