Area players ousted from tennis tournaments

All the South Coast players in the state tennis tournaments were eliminated on Friday.
In the Class 4A-3A-2A-1A boys division, North Bend’s Cody Ferguson won his first-round match, but fell in the quarterfinals.
Ferguson, a state champion as a freshman, beat Tyler Fenton of Burns 6-1, 6-0 before falling to Rohan Borkar of Catlin Gabel, 6-3, 6-2.
Meanwhile, at the Class 5A championships, both Marshfield doubles teams were eliminated.
Brandon Benson and Brogan Trull lost in the quarterfinals to West Albany’s Dustin Borst and Alex Ordeman, the top seeds, 6-1, 6-3.
Meanwhile, David Perrin and Jamey Moriarty went into a tiebreaker in their match with Wilsonville’s Cameron Tonning and Tyler Weiss, falling 9-8 (7-5). |
