An Armed Services Appreciation Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Venture Inn at Inland Point Senior Community, 2265 Inland Drive in North Bend. All reserve, active and retired military persons are invited. Participants are asked to present identification.

The Saints ’n’ Aints Square and Round Dance Club will host a Cinco de Mayo dance at 7 p.m. at the Coos Bay United Methodist Church, 123 Ocean Blvd.

The Chautauqua program “Magic Carpet Made of Steel: Song of America’s Railroads” will take place at 1 p.m. at the Myrtlewood Room at the Coos Bay Public Library, 525 W. Anderson Ave.  

Vintage Haulers, a club for vehicle enthusiasts, meets the third Saturday of each month are various members’ homes. For details and a meeting time, those interested can call Joe Bradley at 260-1940.

The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers will play from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Winchester Bay Community Building.

The South Coast Folk Society will host a South Coast Community Barn Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Greenacres Grange Hall, 93393 Greenacres Lane, south of Coos Bay. Admission is $5; $4 for students and seniors; and free for children under 6.

SOLV will hold several “Down by the Riverside” events from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various locations, including Reedsport, Lakeside, North Bend and Bandon. More information is available at http://www.SOLV.org.

No Lazy Kates, a handspinning group, will meet at 1 p.m. at the Wool Company, 990 Highway 101, Bandon.

The Coos County Beekeepers Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Oregon State University Extension Office, the Ohlsen-Baxter Building, 631 Alder St., Myrtle Point.

Creature Feature will be held at 1 p.m.  at the South Slough Interpretive Center, four miles south of Charleston on Seven Devils Road.

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering the “eBay Selling” course in Brookings. A specialist trained by eBay will teach from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Southwestern Brookings Center, 420 Alder St.

A wildfire prevention workshop will be held at the Bandon Public Library from 9 a.m. to noon.

The American Rhododendron Society Siuslaw Chapter will host a flower show from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince Street.  

The Coos County Master Gardener Association will hold the fifth-annual Tomato-Rama Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend.
