'Barefoot in the Park' opening at Marshfield
Friday, May 9, 2008 10:32 AM PDT
Marshfield High School’s Madrala Players will present the play “Barefoot in the Park” by Neil Simon for two weekends, May 9-11 and 16-18. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays in the Marshfield Drama Lab, at 10th and Ingersoll in Coos Bay.
The play follows Paul and Corie Bratter, Simon’s most delightful newlywed couple according to a press release, as they adjust to the joys and challenges of married life. The popular stage play became a 1967 film with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford.
Paul Bratter (Brady Esch), a conservative young lawyer, marries a vivacious young woman, Corie (Gabby Spano), whose main goal in life is to have fun and to have it with Paul. Their passionate relationship descends into comical discord in a five-story New York City walk-up apartment.
Other cast members include Courtney Henry as Ethel, Corie’s solid, secure mother; Josh Carter as Victor Velasco, the Bratters’ delightfully eccentric upstairs neighbor who seems to be a combination of a Cassanova, Wolfgang Puck and Douglas Fairbanks Jr.; Zach Jones as the telephone repairman; and Noelle Novotny as the delivery woman.
Tickets cost $10 and $7 for seniors and children under 12. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at Colette’s or Cone 9. For more information, those interested can call 267-1434. |
