Come on people, you need to think outside the box. I for one do not want the golfer's who fly in on private jets to think we are a bunch of rednecks. Those high dollar trash cans are pretty classy. Lord knows we could use a little bit of class around here. Keep up the good work and inovative ideas.

Our local airport managers are egocentric empire builders. Period. There is no justification for 90% of the ridiculous rules and regulations set forth in the past decade. Growth is on the decline, energy costs are hampering future expansion in the aviation industry, and tourism is questionable. Yet we increase the overall monthly expenditure and overhead? I completely question the 6 figure income these managers demand and ask what, if any, service is returned for such a large purse? This trash can thing is the tip of the iceberg.

I could have fabricated these same recepticles right here in my shop, they would look just as good and last forever. Cost of materials would be approx. $350.00 per can. I would have donated the labor to save $, But they wouldn`t dream of hiring local business for anything around here. lets send all our $$ elswhere.

This is ridiculous the amount of money they spent on this terminal and they don’t see the long term effect. United Express has only signed a year contract. They have informed Horizon Air who has been serving the area forever now and has been loyal to its customers, will be raising their rent in the new terminal 3x the amount Horizon now pays. Horizon is not going to pay this amount and is thinking of pulling service out of Coos Bay /North Bend all together. So when this happens everyone can thank our Airport Executives for the wonderful beautiful expensive terminal that will sit there empty. Oh if after a year you might be able to catch that flight to SFO.

After reading the newspaper this morning and seeing all the airlines cutting out a lot of small towns and cutting down on flights, I wonder how the NB airport will feel about that nice terminal and those expensive trash cans with NO airplanes coming in here.
I hope LeTellier has some good ideas for that empty terminal.
Oh I forgot, I guess the Bandon Dunes can use it for all their rich golfers coming in, it can be their personal terminal with champaigne waiting for them after they land their private jets.

What happened to what most other places do: Put a plastic can inside a concrete receptacle? CHEAP and will last a lifetime. C'mon, McDonald's has tons of garbage and daily customers, yet they somehow survive without stainless steel trash cans. Amazing!!!!

I've defiantly seen "fancier" terminals. It seems like a lot of money to people who know nothing about construction. That being said I agree that once you leave the beautiful terminal it's all ugly for most of the drive through North Bend, 101 and Coos Bay. Virginia street resembles the "felony flats" up here in Portland with huge parking lots and ugly architecture.

Following the last few stories on the costs of the airport, I just don't get it. The airport is built on prime bay land, the Dunes Golf Course is also built on prime Bay recreational land, the golf course is the beneficiary, and the airport is luxe. The local governments have underwritten investment costs at least in part. Who exactly benefits? Who uses the golf course and where does the money go from the Golf course? What are the revenues to the local economy?

Kind of wonder about the newspaper reporter on this one - they spend $20 million on the new terminal and no questions. They spend $10,000 on garbage cans and it is on front page. Sounds like 'gotcha journalism'. Good reporter would have checked to see costs of garbage cans in other airports and public facilities.

If LaTellier thinks the less costly garbage cans will be destroyed by the public, what is he thinking building a terminal that expensive if the public is just going to destroy it.. You know people around here don't know how to take care of anything, and we don't need any of the fancyness of that airport terminal. The cost of the terminal was bad enough at $17,000,000 plus, and now the stupid garbage cans at $1000 each. Are the toilets gold or silver ??? This is really funny. These people you elected are told that it is cheap so they say "OK". Clair Jones wouldn't have spent 1/100 of that if it had been for one of his places.
