The following events are scheduled for Thursday.
Parents of students who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1 can attend one of the two upcoming Kindergarten Roundups for North Bend School District. Students who live in town can attend the roundup at Hillcrest Elementary School, 1100 Maine St., from 3 to 6 p.m. May 8; and students who live north of the McCullough Bridge can attend the roundup at North Bay Elementary School, 93670 Viking Lane, at 6:30 p.m. May 15.
A planning meeting for Coquille’s dog park will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the junior auditorium at the Coquille Community Building, 115 N. Birch.
The Coquille Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, April through December, at Birch Street and First Street. Vendors are welcome. For more information, those interested can call Jerry at 396-3894 or e-mail klinkdeadair@verizon.net.
A Peace Officer’s Memorial Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at the boardwalk at the Discovery Center In Reedsport.
A free blood pressure clinic will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays at Bay Area Hospital, 1775 Thompson Road, Coos Bay. Room location is available at the first floor front desk.
There will be free, anonymous HIV testing from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay. There will be no needles, and results will be available in 20 minutes. No appointment is necessary.
An celebration of Israel’s 60th birthday, Yom Ha’Atzamout, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., at the North Bend Public Library. The event will begin with include speakers Rabbi Jackie Brodsky and Gail Mercedes, Israeli dancing led by Stacy Rose, singing and honoring flags. The celebration is organized by Standing with Israel. The Bay Area Bonsai Society will meet on second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at Park West Apartments Recreation Room, on 10th Street and Anderson Avenue, Coos Bay. For more information, those interested can call 267-7597.
The Saints ’n’ Aints will host a beginning round dance class from 6 to 7 p.m., an advanced class from 7 to 8:30 and line dancing from 8:30 to 9 every Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church, 123 Ocean Blvd., Coos Bay. Mother’s Day flower baskets are available for $15 apiece as a fundraiser for the Marshfield High School Senior All Night Drug- and Alcohol-Free Party. Basket pickup will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the MHS cafeteria, 10th and Ingersoll.
The Marshfield Senior All Night Drug- and Alcohol-Free Party will be given $1 per pizza sold from 4 to 9 p.m. at Domino’s Pizza on Thursdays, May 8, May 22 and June 5. Home delivery is available by calling Domino’s at 269-1000. Funds raised will be used to help defray costs for providing a fun and safe celebration for graduating MHS seniors. A women’s sexual assault support group will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursdays, at Coddington Place, 1681 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. Toastmaster’s Club No. 249 will meet at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Red Lion Hotel, 1313 N. Bayshore Drive, in Coos Bay. Easy stretching, yoga postures, qi gung and tai chi will be incorporated into a smooth, gentle program focusing on balance, breathing and posture.
