The Southwestern Oregon Community College Board will hold an open meeting Monday to discuss concerns about President Judith Hansen.

The session was scheduled at the board’s last regular meeting after board member Harry Abel prepared six resolutions outlining concerns he said he has heard against the college’s president. Rather than hearing them at the meeting, Chairman Lonny Anderson said board policy requires all concerns be presented to the president before they reach the governing body.

To accomplish this, the board scheduled the special session for 5 p.m. on Monday, May 5 on the fifth floor of the Tioga Building.

Previously, the board had scheduled several executive sessions to discuss her performance, but Hansen demanded that any such meeting be held in public.

Contacted Friday, Hansen said she would respond to complaints against her on Monday.

Based upon the resolutions Abel presented at the last meeting, areas of discussion may include issues such as public safety, personnel matters, fiscal issues and providing information to the board.

The board has vacillated on the subject of Hansen’s handling of the college since February. By a 5-0 vote, the board hired the Oregon State Boards Association to conduct an investigation following a lengthy executive session, which was later canceled to allow the college to perform more internal discussions.
