The following events are scheduled for this weekend around the area.

Tonight, Sunday

“Captain Blood” (1935), starring Errol Flynn, will play at 7 tonight at the Egyptian Theatre. General admission is $4, $3.50 for seniors and those 12 and under, and $3 for members. On Sunday, the theater will show the cartoon “All Dogs go to Heaven” (1989) at 3 p.m. For more information, those interested can call 269-8650.

Monday



Southcoast Parents and Families of Lesbians and Gays will hold a Gay Bisexual Lesbian Transgender social from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, at a private home in North Bend. VFW Post 7488 invites people who have served in the military and were in a combat area such as World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, Afghanistan or any other conflict, to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Post 7488 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at Gussie’s, 1088 Newmark Ave., in Coos Bay. For more information, those interested can call 888-4959.

An Inoka support group is held every Monday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 795 Franklin Ave., in Bandon. There is an initial charge of $10 for books and materials. Pinochle players will gather at 1 p.m. Monday and Thursday at the Bay Area Senior Center, on the corner of Fourth Street and Ingersoll Avenue.

Bridge lessons are offered from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. each Monday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 Highland Ave., in Coos Bay.

A Chronic Pain support group is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at the Bay Area Church of the Nazarene, 1850 Clark St., in North Bend. For more information, those interested can call Judy Grossman at 266-8472 or Felicia Hoffman at 267-5592.

VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA, Chapter 799, will meet at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Pony Village Mall, in Room 208A, the  Southwestern Oregon Veterans Outreach Office. For more information, those interested can call Mike at 290-8680.

The Compassionate Friends will hold monthly meetings for parents, grandparents and siblings of families who have lost a child. The meetings will be held the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at South Coast Hospice Community Bereavement and Education Center, 1620 Thompson Road in Coos Bay. HOT MEALS FOR SENIORS: Bay Area Senior Activity Center offers soups, salads, entrées and desserts at 11:30 a.m. each day except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Cost is $3.50 for BASAC members, $4 for non-members. The resale shop is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. BASAC is located at 886 S. Fourth St., Coos Bay. THE NORTH BEND SENIOR CENTER’S luncheon program is available to everyone, not just seniors. Buffet-style meals are available from 11:45 a.m. until everyone is served, Monday through Friday. Meals cost $5 and monthly menus are available. For more information, those interested can call 756-7622.
