Saturday, April 26, 2008 8:13 AM PDT

To raise awareness for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and to help fund local programs and services for families served by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, all proceeds from coffee sales at Dutch Bros. on May 9 will go to fund ALS research.

Dutch Bros. also has set up an online Web site to honor co-founder Dane Boersma and his fight with ALS — http://www.danesdrive.org. It is an ongoing site that individuals or companies can donate to year-round. Funds raised from this site will also go to continue the research of ALS.

There are 129 Dutch Bros. coffee stands throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona. There are three Dutch Bros. stands in the Bay Area: 843 S. First St. and 149 S. Seventh St. in Coos Bay; and 940 Virginia Ave. in North Bend.
