The Coos County Foster Parents Association host fundraiser

Thursday, May 01, 2008 |
May is National Foster Care Month, a time when communities across the nation honor America’s more than 173,000 foster families and recognize the approximately 542,000 children in foster care. In Coos County there are more than 160 children in care and 130 foster families.
The group’s Annual Spaghetti Feed will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at the North Bend Community Center, 2222 Broadway Ave. Tickets cost $5 each or $20 per family.
Foster Care Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the 130 families who provide safe, stable and supportive homes for the more than 160 children in the county unable to live with their birth families, according to a press release.
The Coos County Foster Parents Association provides a food bank, new clothes closet, One Child Fund (which helps pay for sports fees, music lessons, camps, etc.), and support and training for the foster parents.
Those unable to attend can still help by donating clothes, school supplies, or money to help pay for the many expenses of raising these children. Donations can be sent to: Coos County Foster Parents Association, P.O. Box 335, Coos Bay, OR 97420. For more information or to arrange a pick-up time for donations, those interested can call Marge Scott at 347-4224 or 297-2289.
