Local groups hold plant sales

*The Rogue District Annual Gardener’s Market Plant Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1290 Thompson Road, Coos Bay.
The event will include a raffle for a potting bench. Raffle tickets will cost $1 each or 6 for $5.
* This year’s Douglas County Oregon State University Extension Service Master Gardeners’ Plant & Garden Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, the exhibit building of the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Roseburg. The fairgrounds are located at exit 123 off of Interstate 5. Master Gardeners will be available to advise on the care and feeding of plants purchased. In addition, there will be raffles for numerous prizes, as well as vendors of garden-related items, including specialty plants, tools and supplies, as well as garden arts and craft.
Admission is $1 per person, with kids under 12 admitted free.
Proceeds from the Plant & Garden Expo will go towards educational programs in the community.

* The Friends of the Coos Bay Public Library will hold a used book sale and annual plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, in the Myrtlewood and Cedar rooms at the library, 525 W. Anderson Ave.
In addition to thousands of books of all kinds, shoppers will find plants, garden tools, vases, garden decorations and a special group of garden books and magazines.

* The Coos County Master Gardener Association will hold the fifth-annual Tomato-Rama Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 17; and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, at the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend.
The sale will feature many different varieties of tomatoes that do well in the area. There also will be vegetables, berries, annuals, perennials, herbs, shrubs and more. From noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, there will be a table where kids can make and decorate garden hats. The Master Gardeners also will have a plant clinic to answer gardening questions. The sale is a fundraiser to support Master Gardener educational programs.
