A Milwaukie man was injured in an ATV accident Friday near the third beach parking lot. According to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office press release, at about 8:25 p.m., a 2008 Kawasaki was southbound when it flew over the top of a razor-back dune and crashed. The driver, Derek A. Hadgin, 20, fractured both wrists as a result of the impact, police said. He was transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital, where a hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released.

A Washington woman was injured Saturday in an ATV accident southeast of the third beach parking lot. According to the Douglas County log, at about noon, a 2000 Yamaha Banshee was climbing a hill when a passenger, Deanna Stine, 34, got her left foot caught by the left rear paddle tire. Her pants were ripped from her body and she was pulled off the ATV and under the rear tire. Police said she suffered substantial tissue damage to her leg as well as possible fractures. She was taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital and later transferred to Bay Area Hospital, police said. No further information was available at press time.
