Rape in Bunker Hill

A Coos Bay man was arrested on rape-related charges Saturday in Bunker Hill.

According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office log, at about 12:46 a.m., deputies responded to an incomplete 911 call from  63478 Third Road. They arrested Wayne A. Russell, 58, on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree attempted rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, fourth-degree assault and interfering with a 911 call. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he is being held on a $3.2 million bond. The victim, a woman whose identity was withheld for privacy reasons, was taken to Bay Area Hospital.

SAMUEL why is it you're directing your rant at teens and preteens... Did you not read the report above and how it was a 58 yr old man being arrested... Yes there is a rise in violence in teens, but older individuals are also committing crimes... Police officers, politicians and other people of power are also committing crimes... Don't be agist! Public hanging aren't going to help... People know they will be punished and people still commit crimes, history has proved this. People were killed, raped, and etc. throughout the 1800's, so did public hangings actually work? Obviously not...

This is why we need more police and sheriffs patrol on the streets and roads, and less sitting in the jailhouse. It should not take more than two deputies in the jailhouse to watch over men in locked cells. Get out onto the roads where you can actually get to a crime scene sooner. We waste so much money on dumb things in Coos County, but can't keep our people SAFE.. it just doesn't make sense to me. Everyone sitting in the jailhouse and nobody on the roads at night especially, when the "bad people" are out doing 'bad things'. Then the newspaper tells everyone, that there are no law enforcement out at certain times of the night. Real smart...

Samuel - I'm not sure I want to live in the country you describe. It sounds a bit like Nazi Germany.

I will continue to work for the country that our founding fathers modeled in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. That's the American way.

Democracy... while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.

Better to try to revive the constitutional republic Samuel

You know I cannot help but think that America was on to something back in the 1800's when the Sheriff's Depts and the Courts in this country performed Public Hangings out in public squares all around. Maybe if we did that again and forced all teens and preteens to attend them, maybe they would all take note and realize that there are consquenses for your actions. Slapping people on the hand just does not work! Come on folks!!!! Write, email, call your elected officials and let them know where you stand and demand action. If enough of us stand together, Democracy can really work. Right now special interest groups are getting the say so. Just ask the ACLU!!!
