The following represents recent action on cases in Coos County Circuit Court:

Convicted

* Richard A. Young, 37, of Bullhead City, Ariz., was convicted on March 31, 2008, of felony coercion and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 36 months  probation and ordered to pay $1,107 in fines.

* Matthew W. Danforth, 27, of Coos Bay was convicted on April 15, 2008, on charges of felony possession of methamphetamines and misdemeanor driving while under the influence of intoxicants and was sentenced to two days in jail and 18 month probation and was ordered to pay $1776 in fines.

Dismissed

* Matthew W. Danforth: On Nov. 16, 2007, the court dismissed charges of misdemeanor reckless driving.

Meth eventually kills you, and it changes a persons behavior. I dont understand how a person could be high and still be able to drive, I mean, to me its the same thing as smoking commet or shooting up drano... it scary to even think about..

Matthew Danforth was convicted of misdemeanor driving while under the influence and yet excaped a misdemeanor of recless driving? Does this not go hand in hand? If you were charged with a DUII then I feel they should have given him the reckless driving as well.
