Honoring the helpers

They are more than 100 strong.
Tuesday afternoon, the Bay Area Hospital Auxiliary honored its volunteers at an annual tea party at the hospital Coos Bay.
Volunteer Mary Porter said there are about 100 active and non-active volunteers in the organization who help out wherever they are needed. That includes assisting in admitting, recovery, patient discharge and the family waiting room. They also provide free blood pressure screenings, help the public, assemble patient information brochures, deliver flowers and mail to patients and operate the gift shop.
For more information about the auxiliary, those interested can call 269-8148.
