EUGENE (AP) — Three members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club have been accused of trying to force a pair of investigators off Interstate 5.

Eugene police say 26-year-old Justin DeLoretto of Turner, 22-year-old Nathan Cassidy of Eugene and 24-year-old Matthew Weiss of Creswell were charged with attempted assault.

Police say the incident occurred Wednesday at rush hour.

Eugene police Detective Dave Burroughs and federal agent James Packard investigate outlaw motorcycle gangs and were returning from Turner when three vehicles boxed them in and tried to force them off the road.

Packard and Burroughs escaped a collision and called for assistance.

The Mongols are a California-based club that opened its first Oregon chapter last fall.
