Prep Recap for April 21: Marshfield gets win over GP in tennis

Marshfield’s boys tennis team survived unusual April weather conditions to beat host Grants Pass 8-0 in a nonleague tennis match on Saturday.
The match was played under cloudy skies and included three different stretches of snowfall.
“Everyone played well despite the crazy weather,” said Marshfield coach Paula Massie.
Marshfield got singles wins by Jon Massie, Zaq Jones, David Stys, Andre VanRooyen.
Massie won a third-set super tiebreaker 10-4 in his match against Jordan VanDelden.
In doubles, Marshfield got wins by the teams of Brandon Benson and Brogan Trull, Jamey Moriarty and David Perrin, Brealan Mosieur and Markus Boesl, and Michoe Montgomery and Josh Bott.

Crater Rotary Classic
Siuslaw’s Alexis Reavis won the shot put at the 29-team Crater Rotary Classic on Saturday.
Reavis had a winning throw of 40 feet in the event, and also finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 105-5. Teammate Samantha Pummer was sixth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10 minutes, 55.84 seconds.
Among South Coast boys, Siuslaw’s Travis Stevens was third in the 3,000 meters with an outstanding time of 8:58.31, while Gold Beach’s Nathan Moore finished fourth in the 400 meters in 51.87. Siuslaw’s Mason Keck was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 41-1 1/2 and teammate Kody Reavis took sixth in the javelin with a throw of 170-6.
North Medford’s boys and South Eugene’s girls were the team champions. |
