City League final set

South Coast Orthopedics and Powers meet Sunday evening for the Coos Bay City League basketball title.

South Coast Orthopedics won a pair of two-point games in the playoffs last Sunday to earn a spot in the 5 p.m. championship game at Harding Gym on the Marshfield campus.

South Coast Orthopedics edged the Braves 53-51 as Willy Layton and Shane Tinner scored 11 points each.

Nick Borrevik had 16 points for the Braves.

In the semifinals, South Coast Orthopedics got 18 points from Casey McCord and beat Bandon 73-71. James Freitag had 30 points for Bandon in the losing effort.

In the other semifinal, Powers, the regular-season champion, topped Balls Bombers 104-63. Kyle Richards had 45 points for Powers, which went over the century mark for the second straight game. Charles Hill had 18 points for Balls Bombrs.

Hill also scored 18 points in the quarterfinals, when Balls Bombers beat U.S. Coast Guard 56-38. Josh Brown had 20 points for the Coast Guard team.
