Coast Guard searches for overdue vessel

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a recreational vessel reported to be in distress in the vicinity of Winchester Bay.
According to a Coast Guard press release, at about 2 a.m. Sunday, the a Coast Guard helicopter crew and boat crew responded to a report the people aboard the recreational vessel Rubber Ducky had run out of food and water. Later, it was reported the vessel was taking on water.
The Coast Guard crews searched the area of the call and sent a boat and vehicles up the Umpqua River, but were unable to locate any vessel in distress, the release said.
Anyone with information regarding the Rubber Ducky and its crew is asked to contact the Coast Guard Group North Bend at 756-9210.
Identity theft, forgery arrest
A Coquille woman was arrested Saturday on charges of identity theft, tampering with drug records and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the Coos Bay Police log, at about 10:25 a.m., officers responded to a report of a woman trying to fill a forged prescription at Bi-Mart, 550 S. Fourth Street. Officers arrested Sara L. Stone-Adamek, 31, on two counts of tampering with drug records, two counts of identity theft and possession of a controlled substance.
She was taken to Coos County jail, where she was released on her own recognizance.
An arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Coos County Circuit Court.
