Adult classes

Linocut printmaking

• The Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, May 17 and 24; taught by Pat Snyder.

In this introductory workshop, students will learn techniques for the relief printmaking process. The linocut is a process similar to the woodcut except the image is engraved on linoleum, an easier surface than wood for working with more precision and a greater variety of effects. There will be demonstrations showing methods for transferring the image to the plate, cutting with gouges and blades and printing with brayer, baren and selected papers.

The fee is $75 for museum members and $80 for non-members.

Watercolor techniques

• The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 12-14 and costs $275 for museum members and $300 for non-members.

Instructor Vinita Pappas strives to create a relaxed, light-hearted atmosphere for the class so that students feel comfortable and confident at any level. She will demonstrate painting process, beginning with technical framework and interjecting the vital ingredients of emotion and expression.

Watercolor workshop

• The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 26-28.  The workshop fee is $150.

Larry Johnson will reprise his popular 2006 watercolor workshop. He will teach techniques to accomplish different elements. He shows students how to do parts of the painting and then combine those parts into a finished piece. Johnson has gained the reputation as one of the nation’s top wildlife artists and has numerous publications and awards to his credit, a press release said. This workshop is open to all levels of watercolor experience.
