The following activities and events are scheduled Saturday on the South Coast.

The South Coast Woodcarvers’ show and sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Bend Community Center, 2222 Broadway Ave. Admission is free.

The Southern Oregon Dahlia Society’s annual dahlia tuber sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend. Society members will be on hand to answer questions and help those interested choose from more than 150 varieties.



The Heritage Textile Arts Guild will meet at 9 a.m. at its shop, at space 157A in the Pony Village Mall in North Bend. The program will be a color perception workshop by Cindy Schaumburg and Sandy McDonald of Wild Rivers Wool Factory Inc. in Langlois.

The Friends of Lakeside Library will hold a spring book sale and library open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeside Senior Center, 915 North Lake Road, behind the library.

A gardening seminar on beneficial insects will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Myrtlewood Room in the Coos Bay Public Library, 525 Anderson Ave.  Master Gardener Betty Jones will lead the discussion sponsored by the South Coast Community Garden Association and Coos County Master Gardeners.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Fisherman’s Grotto, 91149 Cape Arago Highway, Charleston.

The South Coast Singles will meet at noon at the Coach House Restaurant, 604 Sixth Ave., in Eastside. For information, those interested can call 267-3443 or 266-1012.

The Gold Coast Chorus will host two shows of the 55th-annual Barbershop Harmony Extravaganza at Little Theatre on the Bay, 2100 Sherman Ave., North Bend. The first show will be at 2 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for the matinee and $12 for the evening show.



The Miss Coos County Scholarship Program pageant will be held at 7 p.m. at the Hales Center for the Performing Arts, on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. Miss Coos County is the local preliminary to Miss Oregon and Miss America. Tickets will be $20 at the door for all ages and support scholarships.



The Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay will feature the 1920s Chicago mob movie, “The Untouchables” (1987). The movie starts at 7 p.m. General admission for the benefit show is $5.

A dance will be held at the Bandon Grange Farwest Hall on state Highway 42 South, just east of U.S. Highway 101. Lessons will be offered from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., and a dance will follow from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Those attending can wear casual clothing. No smoking or alcohol is allowed. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted to support grange activities.

The Sets in Order Square and Round Dance Club will host a square dance at the Coquille Community Center, 115 N. Birch, with Coleeta Quigley and Denise Harris. Pre-rounds will begin at 7:30 p.m., with square dancing at 8.

The Coos County Roller Girls, the roller derby league, will hold a benefit and bar party at 9 p.m. at Gussie’s Bar & Grill, 1088 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. The event will feature karaoke with band Dammit Jim, full-contact roller girl musical chairs and a silent auction. Admission is $5, and the event is 21 and up only. Proceeds from the event go to support the league.
