The following meetings and activities are planned Wednesday in Coos Bay and North Bend.
The WorkNet forum will begin at 7:30 a.m., hosted by ACS, at 465 Elrod Ave., Coos Bay. WorkNet is a live
forum where employers announce job openings and job seekers highlight their skills.
TOPS No. 1135 will hold a weight-loss support meeting from 9:45 to 11 a.m. at Madison Street Community Church, 417 Madison St. in Coos Bay.
The North Bend Garden Club will meet at noon at the North Bend Housing Authority, 1700 Monroe Ave. The guest speaker will be Tony Henderson, owner of Gorilla Garden Supply, talking on “Hydroponic Propagation vs. Traditional Gardening.” For more information, those interested can call Irene at 756-2372 or visit

The Coos Bay Kiwanis Club will meet at noon at the Red Lion Hotel, 1313 N. Bayshore Drive, in Coos Bay.
Bridge players will gather at 12:30 p.m. at the North Bend Senior Center, 1470 Airport Lane.
Free counseling for combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and a specialized group for World War II and Korean Conflict veterans will be held at 2 p.m. For information, those interested can call the Eugene Vet Center’s Coos County contracted counselor, Susan Aviotti, LPC, at 756-7748.
A post traumatic stress disorder support group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Southwestern Oregon Veterans Outreach office, suite 208 in the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend. The meeting will end at 8 p.m.
The North Bend Masonic Lodge and Coos Eastern Star will hold a bingo game starting at 6:45 p.m at 2002 Union Ave. (at the corner of Virginia Avenue). Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the games will go to around 9 p.m.
High School College Night will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., in Coos Bay. The event is to prepare high school students for college or university studies.
The Pacific Coast Corvette Club will meet at 7 p.m. at Ken Ware Super Store, 1595 Newmark St., North Bend. For information, those interested can call 267-4687.
An AL-ANON support meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Coos Bay, 123 Ocean Blvd.
The Cape Arago Audubon Society meeting will feature a talk by Paul Engelmeyer, manager of Audubon Society’s Ten-Mile Creek Sanctuary, at 7 p.m. at the downstairs room of the Milner Crest Education Center, 1255 Hemlock Ave., Coos Bay. The movie “Common Ground” will be shown as well.
