First-grade students at Hillcrest Elementary School in North Bend walked and ran off energy on Tuesday as Marathon Madness continues this spring.
Students are challenged to walk three laps every day, weather permitting, to encourage physical fitness and it’s a lot of fun for the students. Last year, the students and faculty walked so many miles, it equated to walking all the way around the and part way again, according to Hillcrest principal Bruce Martin.
Some students already have clocked 50 miles of walking and at the end of the school year there will be different awards for different milestones.
