The following events and activities are scheduled Saturday on the South Coast.

A South Coast Hospice Building Fund benefit sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Blossom Gulch Elementary School, 333 S. 10th St., Coos Bay.  There will be antiques, furniture, books, electronics and more.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church at the Fourth Street and Highland Avenue intersection. Proceeds will benefit THE House, the Waterfall Clinic, the Women’s Safety and Resource Center, the Ecumenical Food Cupboard, the Pregnancy Resource Center, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice and Christmas outreach.

The Free Flight Bird and Marine Mammal Rehabilitation garage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall (formerly Farwest Hall) on Highway 42 South in Bandon. From noon until 1 p.m., everything will sell for $1 per bag or per large item.

A boat show will be held at Pony Village Mall all day. There will be a swimsuit, surf and summer wear fashion show from Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Maurice’s and Sunset Sports at 1 p.m. The yacht club, North Bend Fire and Rescue and Y Marina will have boats exhibited.

The Seafood Ride, hosted by the Coos County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse, will be held at the North Spit of Coos Bay. Signups begin at 9 a.m., and the horseback ride begins at 10. Participants can meet at the turn-around spot at the end of TransPacific Lane. There will be a potluck after the ride on site, weather providing, or at the Posse building in Hauser. A book sale hosted by the Friends of the Coos Bay Public Library, 525 Anderson Ave., will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a member presale at 9 a.m.

State Rep. Arnie Roblan, D-Coos Bay, will have coffee with constituents in Florence from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Siuslaw River Roasters, 1240 Bay St.

Court Appointed Special Advocates program of Coos County supporters will sell paper hearts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend.  The hearts will cost $1 and will be dedicated to children or others at the CASA of Coos County candlelight ceremony on Saturday, April 19, at the Coos Bay Boardwalk. April is Child Abuse Awareness Month.

A class on body awareness will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 438 Elrod Ave., in Coos Bay. Easy stretching, yoga postures, qi gung and tai chi will be incorporated into a smooth, gentle program focusing on balance, breathing and posture. Rogers Zoo will host a “Cool SMART Event” from 5 p.m. to close at the tavern, 2037 Sherman Ave., in North Bend for the local Start Making A Reader Today program. The Dale Inskeep Band will perform. The cover charge is $5, with all proceeds going to SMART, along with a percentage of sales to SMART.

Trivia Night will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the small auditorium of the Coquille Community Center, 115 N. Birch St. The cost is $10. Proceeds will benefit the New Coquille Library Building Fund. Door prizes will be given out all evening.

The North Bend High School 12th-annual Mr. Bulldog Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium, 2323 Pacific Ave. Tickets cost $9 for adults, $6 for students, and children 5 and younger get in free. Tickets can be purchased through the North Bend Athletic Department by calling 751-7159.

“Fiddler on the Roof Junior” will be presented at 7 p.m. at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th St. S.W., Bandon. The cast includes 26 young actors, ages 7 to 18. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for students and children.

The Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay will feature the New York City crime drama “The French Connection” (1971), starring Gene Hackman, at 7 p.m. The box office opens one hour before showtime. General admission is $4, $3.50 for seniors and those 12 and under, and $3 for members.

Dance lessons will be offered from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bandon Grange Farwest Hall on state Highway 42 South, just east of U.S. Highway 101. A dance follows the lessons from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Those attending can wear casual clothing, and singles and couples are welcome. No smoking or alcohol is allowed. There is no charge but donations will be accepted to support grange activities. For more information, those interested can call 756-6998 or 347-5626.

Pistol River Concert Association will host music group Gypsy Soul at 8 p.m. at the Pistol River Friendship Hall. Gypsy Soul creates acoustic rock with Celtic and Americana roots. Tickets cost $15.
