Dolphin Players, college hold comedy auditions

Wednesday, April 02, 2008 |
The Dolphin Players and the Southwestern Oregon Community College theater department will hold auditions for spring term mainstage one-act comedy plays.
Open readings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Southwestern campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay.
Performances will be held May 9-11 and 16-17.
In “Bits and Pieces,” a brilliant young professor dies and wills virtually all of his organs to be transplanted — an act that leaves his widow perplexed and unsatisfied, especially at the funeral for the few remains. She bribes the doctor for a list of recipients, and sets out on a quest for the bits and pieces of her husband and their life together.
In “Under Control,” a brother and sister join their stepmother in Florida for their father’s burial. The crux of their unease is how to dispose of the ashes of the deceased — a problem ultimately resolved in a rather hilarious but mutually satisfactory manner, a press release said.
Five men and four women are needed to play multiple roles. The production will be directed by Alice Carlson. For more information, those interested can call producer Rob Clingan at 888-1578
