The Dolphin Players and the Southwestern Oregon Community College theater department will hold auditions for spring term mainstage one-act comedy plays.  

Open readings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Southwestern campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay.

Performances will be held May 9-11 and 16-17.

In “Bits and Pieces,” a brilliant young professor dies and wills virtually all of his organs to be transplanted — an act that leaves his widow perplexed and unsatisfied, especially at the funeral for the few remains.  She bribes the doctor for a list of recipients, and sets out on a quest for the bits and pieces of her husband and their life together.

In “Under Control,” a brother and sister join their stepmother in Florida for their father’s burial. The crux of their unease is how to dispose of the ashes of the deceased — a problem ultimately resolved in a rather hilarious but mutually satisfactory manner, a press release said.
