Linn-Benton Community College spoiled the NWAACC league opener for Southwestern Community College’s baseball team Thursday, sweeping the host Lakers 17-7 and 11-0 in a doubleheader at Coos Bay.
The Lakers, who got their first on-field win of the season by beating the University of Oregon’s club team 2-0 earlier this week in Eugene, is scheduled to visit Chemeketa on Tuesday. The Lakers also have been awarded two other wins by forfeit against Lower Columbia.
Southwestern’s softball team was scheduled to play its league opener at home against Chemeketa today, but that doubleheader has been moved to Sunday.
