Artwork on display through April

The Florence Event Center has several displays open through April.

“Between the Shadow and the Soul” features the luminous and mystical watercolors and nature photography of Eugene artist Tricia Clark-McDowell. McDowell’s dream-like photographs resemble paintings, while retaining the detail of photography, according to a press release.

Waldport sandblasting glass artist DeWayne Scrivner’s work also is on display. Sandblasted glass etchings begin with the chipping of the edges of the glass, unique to each piece, which creates a personal frame or accent. The image is then drawn on the reverse side of the glass and sandblasted (cut) into the glass to create a three dimensional piece of art. Subject matter covers a wide range of topics from animal and nature to Celtic and lighthouses. Both shows run at FEC Gallery One through April 23.

The “2-D Rent-a-Rod” show will open in Gallery Five in April. The display has works by local artists in mediums, including mixed watercolor, oil on cardboard, acrylic, collage, paper, stained glass and fabric. The gallery displays work from both experienced, recognized and forthcoming artists.

The annual two-dimensional “Rent-a-Rod” will be replaced with Photography Rent-a-Rod in May and June. There is a current call-to-artist for this show. For more information, those interested can call (541) 997-1994.
