Panthers get victory

Gold Beach scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to beat Western Mennonite 9-8 in a baseball game at John Day on Wednesday.
Mitch McDonald drove in the game-winning run with a double in the seventh. McDonald went 2-for-5 with two RBIs on the day.
Gold Beach also got two hits each by Garrett Hoffman, Ricco Lang, Jake Hatten and Jaden West.
McDonald, Lang and Mackenzie Burdett combined to allow just four hits, but Gold Beach committed nine errors in the contest.
“It was an ugly game, but we won it,” said Gold Beach coach Greg Brown.
The Panthers play Vale today in the tournament at Grant Union High School.
