The Coos Art Museum’s Vision 2008 exhibit features art by high school students from throughout the region.
The exhibit features art by high school students from throughout the region, and is underwritten by the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation. Winning entries for the annual competition received prize awards from the foundation. Best of Show, first- and second-place winners received both cash awards and two-year tuition waivers to attend Southwestern. First through fourth places for each grade level received cash awards.

• 1st Place in Show: $125 cash purchase award and a 2-year tutituon wavier went to North Bend High School student
Cassie Mostert for her magazine mosaic "Padme' Amidala." Her art teacher is Nunzio Lagattuta.
• 2nd Place in Show: $75 cash purchase award and a 2-year tutituon wavier went to
Kacy Crook of Bandon High School for her acrylic painting "Bob Marley." Her art teacher is Jan Ells.

12th Grade Division 1st Place: $50 cash award went to
Misty Simmons of BHS for her pastel "Spirit Healer." Her art teacher is Jan Ells.
2nd Place: $40 cash award went to
Josh Salmon of NBHS for an acrylic "Self Portrait. His art teacher is Nunzio Lagattuta.
3rd Place: $30 cash award went to
Chelsea Young of Brookings-Harbor for her acrylic/graphite painting "Focus." Her art teacher is Sheryl Tuttle.
4th Place: $20 cash award went to
Kris Brown of Coquille High School for a stoneware vase. The art teacher is John Bealey.
11th Grade Division • 1st Place: $50 cash award went to
Molly Moncrief of Brookings-Harbor for the acrylic "Radiance." Her art teacher is Sheryl Tuttle.
• 2nd Place: $40 cash award went to
John Castaldi of BHS for the prismacolor "Warm Glow." His art teacher is Jan Ells.
• 3rd place: $30 cash award went to
Melissa Smith of Gold Beach High School for her prismacolor "Bijou." Her art teacher is Jennifer Miller.
• 4th Place: $20 cash award went to
Charlene Ramsey of Coquille for her graphic picture "Tack." Her art teacher is John Bealey.
10th Grade Division 1st Place: $50 cash award went to
Bayli Kraft of Pacific High School in Langlois for the pastel "Shoe." Her art teacher is Robert Tiffany.
2nd Place: $40 cash award went to
Kayla Zimmerman of Coquille for her watercolor "Thoughtful." Her art teacher is John Bealey.
3rd place: $30 cash award went to
Chloe Jameson of Marshfield High School in Coos Bay for the acrylic "Pearl District." Her art teacher is Jeff Jacobson.
4th Place: $20 cash award went to
Elizabeth Pettinger of Brookings-Harbor for the acrylic/graphic painting "Clownfish Glimpse." Her art teacher is Sheryl Tuttle.
9th Grade Division 1st Place: $50 cash award went to
Shayla Lee of Coquille for the graphite drawing "Anthony." Her art teacher is John Bealey.
2nd Place: $40 cash award went to
Robin Highbarger of Illinois Valley High School in Cave Junction for the collage "Attack of Blue on Green." The art teacher is Elaine Barker.
3rd place: $30 cash award went to
Robin Hill of BHS for the scratchboard picture "Black and White." The art teacher is Jan Ells.
4th Place: $20 cash award went to
Julia Scolari of Coquille for the graphite drawing "Enemy." Her art teacher is John Bealey.
