San Francisco flights to and from the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport were still up in the air as of Friday, according to Airport Executive Director Gary LeTellier.

LeTellier said he still has not received confirmation from Sky West Airlines on a potential deal with the airline, which would include a partnership with Klamath Falls International Airport.

“We’re still discussing it,” he said. “I don’t know anything for certain. It hasn’t been finalized.

“I’m very hopeful,” he added.

LeTellier declined to comment on a draft contract he had expected to receive from the airline in February.

He cited a current problem all airlines are experiencing, although he said he wasn’t sure if it applied to Sky West.

“The airline industry in general is very concerned with the economy and fuel prices,” he said.

At Thursday’s Coos County Airport District board meeting, LeTellier told commissioners an application for $650,000 in  Connect Oregon II funds had progressed. Further talks will take place in a telephone conference with the Regional Transportation Committee on April 9.

At the meeting, the commissioners also approved entering into a contract with Mead & Hunt Inc., for $10,780, to update a passenger-demand analysis last done in 2006. The analysis will include data on passengers’ originating airports, destinations and airlines. The information could be used for prospective airlines interested in providing future service at the airport.

That's right, one airline flying to one city !

But they're going ahead with the brand new parking fee system? We taxpayers are losing free parking, Bandon Dunes Limos will have free parking no doubt?

I urge you all to watch public broadcasting of these meetings, they're flush with money.

Forget the flights south, I want the flights to Seattle back, you didn't give them a chance, trying it for one summer and before anyone knew they were flying to Seattle, you quit them. You needed to advertise that you even had them before quitting them.
I know a lot of people that go to Seattle and also if you go to Seattle you can get flights from there to everywhere in the World. Also a lot of people from here go to Alaska, and it is much better to fly out of Seattle, without having to change in Portland, and then on to Seattle.
A straight flight to Seattle is needed.

Thank goodness the Port took over the Airport and then went to the present format of leadership. Mr NoTellier can build, Travel and hire and that is great for our community. More public employees with no results, just the usual promises I heard thirty years ago.
I am x-large, grumpy and the tourists don't want me for a motel maid. . .Let us just have back half the jobs they have
all killed off. . .

I wonder if these airlines are concerned over lost profits from not serving a market in which demand exists?

“We’re still discussing it,” he said.

I wonder what there is to discuss? Have your lawyer call our lawyer if it's the boilerplate in the contract. Otherwise sign the dang thing and let's gget on with it already!
