San Francisco flights to and from the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport were still up in the air as of Friday, according to Airport Executive Director Gary LeTellier.
LeTellier said he still has not received confirmation from Sky West Airlines on a potential deal with the airline, which would include a partnership with Klamath Falls International Airport.
“We’re still discussing it,” he said. “I don’t know anything for certain. It hasn’t been finalized.
“I’m very hopeful,” he added.
LeTellier declined to comment on a draft contract he had expected to receive from the airline in February.
He cited a current problem all airlines are experiencing, although he said he wasn’t sure if it applied to Sky West.
“The airline industry in general is very concerned with the economy and fuel prices,” he said.
At Thursday’s Coos County Airport District board meeting, LeTellier told commissioners an application for $650,000 in Connect Oregon II funds had progressed. Further talks will take place in a telephone conference with the Regional Transportation Committee on April 9.
At the meeting, the commissioners also approved entering into a contract with Mead & Hunt Inc., for $10,780, to update a passenger-demand analysis last done in 2006. The analysis will include data on passengers’ originating airports, destinations and airlines. The information could be used for prospective airlines interested in providing future service at the airport. |
