DORAL, Fla. — Geoff Ogilvy was bogey-free over two days on the Blue Monster, saving par four times from the bunker Friday on his way to a 5-under 67 to remain atop the leaderboard at the CA Championship.

Remaining free from the ominous presence of Tiger Woods?

That might be more difficult.

Ogilvy finished one shot clear of Woods, who birdied his final two holes earlier for a 66.

Ogilvy, who hasn’t won since capturing the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in 2006, was at 12-under 132. He will be in the final group Saturday with Woods and Adam Scott, who hit into the bushes and the water on the last two holes to spoil a good day. Scott had to settle for a 68, leaving him three shots behind.

Woods made two eagles in one round for the first time since the Buick Invitational last year on the North Course at Torrey Pines.

Puerto Rico Open

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — Bo Van Pelt, seeking his first PGA Tour victory, shot a 4-under 68 to take a one-stroke lead over Jerry Kelly halfway through the inaugural Puerto Rico Open.

Van Pelt opened Thursday with his lowest round in nine months, then followed with another sub-70 showing — a back-to-back effort he hadn’t accomplished in seven previous tournaments this season.

Kelly, at No. 63 in the world the highest-ranked competitor in the field, He had a chance to tie Van Pelt, but missed a 5-foot birdie putt on No. 18. Still, Kelly followed his first-round 67 with a 66.

Kuznetsova ends Sharapova’s streak

INDIAN WELLS, Calif.  — Svetlana Kuznetsova ended Maria Sharapova’s winning streak at 18 matches Friday with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 victory in the Pacific Life Open semifinals.

Sharapova’s perfect start to the season included titles in the Australian Open and at Doha.

Kuznetsova, who evened her career mark against Sharapova at 4-4, will face No. 2 Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in Sunday’s final. Ivanovic earned her spot with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory over Jelena Jankovic, also from Serbia.

Elam will kick for Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with record-setting kicker Jason Elam, who is leaving Denver after 15 seasons with the Broncos.

A person familiar with the negotiations, speaking on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been officially announced, said the 37-year-old Elam would be joining the Falcons.

Terms of the contract were not available.

Elam had been the Broncos kicker since 1993, but he’s coming home in a sense. He played high school football in suburban Atlanta.
