The Coos Bay Subway eatery recently moved to an updated and more visible location at 950 S. First St., off U.S. Highway 101.
The new location offers customers more parking and seating space, and gives Owner Sven Backman, a Bay Area native, a chance to update the decor.
Sven Backman, owner
Backman, who owns three other Subways — two in North Bend and one in Bandon — has owned the Coos Bay Subway since 2000. He graduated from North Bend High School and is raising three children with his wife, Pat Backman, who owns Grocery Outlet in Coos Bay.
The new Subway location offers 400 more square feet than the old one, which was at 299 S. Bayshore Drive.
“We can better serve our customers. We’re proud of the way it turned out,” Backman said.
Subway is open 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to midnight on the weekends. For more information, those interested can call Subway at 269-1057.
