Rogue comments due Wednesday

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking comments on  a proposal by Rogue Mail Boat Service Inc. to increase the length of dredge trenches at established riffles and confluent creeks between Miles 3 and 29.5 of the Rogue River near Gold Beach.

The purpose of the proposed project is to provide safe boat navigation.

The Corps is soliciting comments on this proposal from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties.

The company is proposing to dig 40 trenches at riffles and confluent creeks within the river channel. Each trench would be 350-feet long, 30-feet wide and 3-feet deep.
