LTOB offers dance training for Opry
Friday, March 14, 2008 12:17 PM PDT
Little Theatre on the Bay performers and producers are organizing for the upcoming summer performance season.
The theater will offer a free clogging workshop on Monday on the main stage at Little Theatre on the Bay, 2100 Sherman Ave., North Bend. The workshop is a forerunner to the Little Ole Opry Dancer Auditions scheduled for Wednesday.
Registration will be at 7 p.m. Little Ole Opry Choreographer Lauri Todd will offer instruction to all ages and ability levels. Dance shoes are recommended but not required. Tennis shoes will work.
Todd got her start on the Little Theatre stage many years ago and has been a dancer, singer and choreographer since Opry began. She sang in three-part harmony with her sisters as the “Houghtons.” Todd dusted off her dancing shoes last year and choreographed and danced for the 2007 Summer Opry season.
Auditions for Little Ole Opry Dancers will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, on the stage at LTOB. Those who participate in the workshop will learn the audition dance. Depending on age and skill level, dancers will be chosen the night of auditions.
The Little Ole Opry Dancers are a main part of the popular summer show, which will run all weekends in July and the first weekend in August at the theater. Opry director Josie Reid has chosen the themes for the season, including:
• July 5, country western classics;
• July 12, 1950’s and rock & roll;
• July 19, hot new country;
• July 26, traditional country; and
• August 2-3, Best of Opry 2008.
For information, those interested can call Josie Reid at 269-0830 or the theater at 756-4336, or (877) 756-4336 toll free. Leave a name and telephone number. |
