The Mr. Bulldog and Mr. MHS contestants will meet again this year for their annual volleyball challenge to help raise money or their respective organizations.
The game will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Marshfield High School gym. Admission is $5 and proceeds will be split between the two pageants.
The contestants in the Mr. MHSpageant are raising money for their “Help Us Help Our Community” fund, which will go to a number of different local charities.
All money raised by the Mr. Bulldog contestants will be donated directly to the Children’s Miracle Network, which in turn goes directly to the neo-natal unit of Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, where the money is used to purchse vital medical equipment used specifically in treating sick or injured infants and children at Sacred Heart.

Run of Two CitiesThe South Coast Running Club’s Run of Two Cities will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, on Eighth Terrace, just above the Minus Park softball field in Coos Bay.
The event includes a 10-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer run/walk. Both courses cover numerous hills, with the longer course traveling through downtown North Bend. Walkers who wish to complete the 10-kilometer course will start at 8:30 a.m.
Registration will be held from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. at the start area. Entry fees are $5 for adults and $3 for students under 19.
Orders will be taken for Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run T-shirts. All entry fees and T-shirt proceeds benefit Oregon Special Olympics and remain on the South Coast. For more information, those interested can contact race director Tim Wall at 269-5169.
Bandon Dunes Speedgolf ClassicThe annual Bandon Dunes Speedgolf Classic will take place on Sunday, April 6, beginning at 7 a.m.
The Classic includes 18 speedy holes on one of the world’s finest layouts, as well as an array of prizes provided by sponsors. Golfers compete in four age groups.
The unique golfing/running experience is always entertaining. Scoring is based on running time and number of strokes needed to complete the course. Registration forms are available at

Included with the $80 entry fee will be a continental breakfast.
Baseball ClinicThe North Bend Independent Baseball Program will have a baseball clinic at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the North Bend High School gymnasium.
The clinic, designed for players ages 8 to 18, will include instruction from Rusty Keith, a former Triple-A baseball player, and his players at Wenatchee Valley Community College.
The cost is $20 for those who sign up early and $22 at the door and includes a barbecue dinner.
The event is sponsored by the Bay Area Sunrise Rotary Club, Faith Lutheran Church, Lakeshore Lodge, Safeway and the North Bend Independent Baseball Program.

Softball meetingThe South Coast Softball Association will hold an informational meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, at the Coos Bay Best Western motel in advance of the upcoming season.
All players and teams interested in participating in the Men’s or Coed softball leagues should attend. The men’s league could begin play by May 1, with coed play starting by June 1.
Men’s teams need to sign up by April 15 and coed teams by May 1.

MP alumni baseballMyrtle Point High School will hold an alumni baseball doubleheader on March 15 to raise funds for the Bobcat baseball program. The first game will start at noon at the baseball field in the Coos County Fairgrounds.

Kindergarten soccerAll boys and girls in kindergarten are eligible to participate in kindergarten soccer through the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon.
Registration forms are available at local schools, the club office and online at
www.bgc-sworegon.org. The program will be held from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning April 1 and concluding on April 29. All sessions will be held at the Southwestern Community College soccer field.
The fee is $25 with a current club membership.

Soccer and track registrationsAll boys and girls interested in playing soccer or participating on a track and field team should register now at the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon.
The fee for both sports is $40 with a club membership and practices may begin later this month, with the first competition at the end of March.
Spring soccer is for first- through sixth-graders. Track and field is for boys and girls in fourth- through sixth-grades. Teams will be formed in Coos Bay, North Bend, Bandon and Reedsport. Individuals in other areas are welcome to participate.
