Business Fair targets small and start-up businesses
Thursday, March 6, 2008 10:06 AM PST
The South Coast Employer Council’s first South Coast Business Resource Fair this Saturday will offer two break-out sessions:
• The first will be a panel discussion about combined payroll tax reporting, featuring speakers from: the Oregon Employment Department; Department of Revenue; and Department of Consumer and Business Services, Workers’ Benefit Fund Assessment.
• The second will feature: Mike Lehman, general manager and corporate counsel of Cardinal Services; and Arin Carmack, director of loss control for Cardinal Services.
This will be an opportunity for small business owners to better understand the more than 15 changes recently made to employment law, and to hear and gain a better understanding of the new safety committee meeting requirements put forth by Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to a press release.
The Business Resource Fair is to provide small businesses or start-up businesses with resources and tools that they may not know are available to them.
Exhibitors will include many agencies, which administer programs dealing with topics such as safety, human resources, compliance, economics, banking, benefits and others.
Attendees may visit tables staffed by personnel who work in that particular field.
The Business Resource Fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at the North Bend Community Center, 2222 Broadway St.
