The following meetings and events are scheduled Wednesday in Coos County.

TOPS No. 1135 will hold a weight-loss support meeting from 9:45 to 11 a.m. at Madison Street Community Church, 417 Madison St. in Coos Bay. For more information, those interested can call Bonnie at 266-9525.

Round-Table Poets will meet from  11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alder Acres RV Park, 1800 N. 28th Court, Coos Bay. The writing group invites the public to join in to discuss poems and enjoy fellowship. For more information, those interested can call Loisa at 888-2374.

Free counseling for combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and a specialized group for World War II and Korean Conflict veterans will be held at 2 p.m. For more information, those interested can call the Eugene Vet Center’s Coos County contracted counselor, Susan Aviotti, LPC, at 756-7748.

The Coos Bay Kiwanis Club will meet at noon at the Red Lion Hotel, 1313 N. Bayshore Drive, in Coos Bay, and features a new program every week. For more information, those interested can call Howard Forte at 888-5498 or 267-3121.

The Coos Chapter Order of the Eastern Star
is hosting a bingo night. Doors open at 6 p.m. with games starting at 6:45 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 2002 Union Ave., in North Bend. There will be cash prizes. This is an adults-only event.



The Coos Bay Eagles No. 538
, Aerie and Auxiliary, will meet at 7 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 568 S. Second St., Coos Bay. For more information, those interested can call 267-6613.



An AL-ANON support meeting
will be held at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Coos Bay, 123 Ocean Blvd.

Coos Bay Elks Lodge No. 1160 will meet at 7 p.m. at the lodge, 265 Central Ave. The board of governors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is available from 5 to 6 p.m. on meeting nights. For more information, those interested can call 266-7320.

The Tioga Mountain Men gather at 7:30 p.m. at Denny’s Pizza, 98 E. First St. in Coquille.

The North Bend Senior Center's luncheon program is available to everyone, not just seniors. Buffet-style meals are served from 11:30 a.m. until everyone is served, Monday through Friday. Meals cost $5 and monthly menus are available, at 1470 Airport Lane. Information is available at 756-7622.

Hot meals for seniors: Bay Area Senior Activity Center offers soups, salads, entrées and desserts at 11:30 a.m.  Wednesday through Friday. Cost is $3.50 for BASAC members, $4 for non-members. The resale shop is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. BASAC is located at 886 S. Fourth St., Coos Bay. For more information, those interested can call 269-2626, 269-9551 or 396-4302.

The watercolors of Sharon Backues are featured this month at the North Bend Public Library, with portraits, beach scenes and other nature-related subjects. The paintings can be viewed in the Conference Room of the library at 1800 Sherman Ave.
