SALEM — Derek Piete had 25 points to lead Regis to a 49-36 victory over Horizon Christian in the OSAA Class 3A boys state championship Saturday night.

Top-ranked Regis (25-2) of Stayton lost last year in the state championship to Valley Catholic.

Nick Gowan had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks (26-3) of Tualatin, a school with an enrollment of 96 students.

Class 2A Boys

PENDLETON — Tyler Chris had 22 points and Portland Christian defeated Western Mennonite 70-38 in the Class 2A boys state championship Saturday night.

Ryan Rhodes added 16 points for the top-ranked Royals (25-3) at the Pendleton Convention Center.

Daniel Martin had nine points and five rebounds for the No. 8 Pioneers of Salem.

The Royals led by as many as 41 points in the fourth quarter.

Western Mennonite defeated North Douglas 54-33 to advance to the championship game, while Portland Christian beat No. 4 Kennedy of Mount Angel, 56-43.

Class 2A Girls

PENDLETON — Kelsey Barth had 13 points and six rebounds to lead Salem Academy to a 37-30 victory over Portland Christian in the Class 2A girls championship game.

The third-ranked Crusaders (25-6) took over just before the half and led the rest of the way at the Pendleton Convention Center.

Kim Hill had 13 points and six rebounds for the defending champion Royals (26-2).

Portland Christian defeated Santiam 48-29 in the semifinals to advance, while Salem Academy defeated Kennedy 42-35.

Class 1A Boys

BAKER CITY — Danny Reiter had 29 points to lead Mohawk to a 60-48 victory over Triangle Lake in the Class 1A boys state championship game Saturday night.

Cord Wilkins added 16 points for Mohawk (25-5), which won its second straight championship.

Clinton Vaughn had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers (29-3). Marius Poeschel added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Mohawk took the lead for good when Wilkins’ two free throws made it 48-46 in the final quarter.

Class 1A Girls

BAKER CITY — Colby Patton had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead Joseph to a 60-52 victory over St. Paul in the Class 1A girls state championship Saturday night at Baker High School.

Shelby Harshman and Megan Yost each added 11 points for the top-ranked Eagles (29-0), who lost to St. Paul in the championship game last year.

Katlyn McKillip had 18 points for the No. 2 Buckaroos (24-7). Brittani Brown added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Brown’s 3-pointer with 2:10 left in the game pulled St. Paul to within 55-51, but it was as close as the Buckaroos would get.

Joseph advanced to the championship with a 60-53 victory over Lowell on Friday, while St. Paul defeated Southwest Christian 49-28.
