The following meetings and gatherings are planned Tuesday in Coos County.
The Daughters of the Nile will meet at Coney Station, 295 S. Broadway, Coos Bay. Daughters of the Nile is a philanthropic women’s organization made up of relatives of Shriners. Vintage car club members from various groups get together on the first Tuesday of each month at Tower Ford. For details and a meeting time, those interested can call Joe Bradley at 260-1940.
TOPS OR No. 300 will meet at 9 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 2420 Sherman Ave., in North Bend. Weigh-in will begin at 8 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. TOPS is a nonprofit organization that helps individuals control weight through education, awareness and support. Blood pressure tests will be offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the North Bend Senior Center, 1470 Airport Lane. For more information, those interested can call 756-7622.
A diabetes education review class will meet on from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Bay Area Hospital, 1775 Thompson Road, Coos Bay. The topic will be the BAH kidney program. Participants should check with the front desk on the first floor of the hospital for exact locations. A food handler class will be offered at 1 p.m. at room 6 in Stikum Hall, at Southwestern Oregon Community College, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. Those taking the test should prepare by reading “Food Safety: Your Self-training Manual,” available for $2 at the Coos County Health Department-North Bend Annex or at local libraries. Everyone At the Table will provide low-income families with dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Bandon First Presbyterian Church, 592 Edison Ave., will be the site while the Barn is being remodeled. Sea Breeze Chorus will hold a rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 123 Ocean Blvd., in Coos Bay. The Dolphin Players will host a reading of the 2007 Pulitzer-winning play “Rabbit Hole,” by David Lindsey-Abaire, at 7 p.m. at the North Bend Public Library, 1800 Sherman Ave. This potent new play contains both laughter and tears, as well as some adult language.
The Myrtle Point Public Library Foundation will hold an annual meeting at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the library, 435 5th St. The public is invited to attend. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7.
