Ernest Thompson’s classic drama “On Golden Pond” will open at Bandon’s Sprague Community Theater on Friday, March 7, and run through March 16.

The show, directed by Jason Tree, stars Mark Tierney and Johnna Hickox as Norman and Ethel Thayer. Norman and Ethel, (ages 79 and 69 respectively) are back on Golden Pond for the umpteenth summer when their daughter Chelsea (Rosalia D’Amato) arrives with her fiance, dentist Bill Ray (Tree), and his rebellious teenage son Billy (Dante Haruna). On an impulse, Chelsea asks if they can leave Billy on the pond with the oldsters while she and her boyfriend travel on to Europe. Norman and Ethel face old age and death while Billy is gearing up for life with all its excitements and emotional struggles.

The author’s unforgettable characters find love, acceptance and forgiveness in this touching play, which became an Academy Award-winning film.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 and $10 for students and seniors.

For reservations or more information, those interested can call the Sprague Theater at 347-7426.
