Road Runs

Upcoming Road Races on the South Coast

For more information on upcoming road races and for photos from past events, those interested can log on to the South Coast Running Club’s Web page at www.southcoastrunningclub.com.

Run of Two Cities — Saturday, March 8, starting at 9 a.m. at Eighth Terrace above the Mingus Park softball field in Coos Bay. Events include a 5-kilometer run/walk and 10-kilometer run, both on hilly courses. The longer race takes runners through downtown North Bend. The entry fee is $5, with proceeds going to South Coast Special Olympics. For more information, those interested can contact Tim Wall at 269-5169.

Salmon Creek Run — Saturday, April 5, starting at 10 a.m. at the old Powers Hotel. Events include a 10-kilometer run and a 3-mile run/walk along Salmon Creek. For more information, those interested can call Joe Hallett at 439-4485.

Roseburg to Coos Bay Relay — Saturday, April 19, with a staggered start at Roseburg. Five-person relay team will run from Roseburg to Coos Bay on the Coos Bay Wagon Road. The early entry fee is $150 per team ($30 per individual) for groups that sign up by April 4. The fee increases to $35 after that and the entry deadline is April 14. A 23-mile LaVerne Park to Coos Bay walk relay also will be held in conjunction with the event. The event is a fundraiser for Camp Millennium, a camp for children living with cancer. For more information, those interested can call Kristy Blair at 396-5910 or Pete Dawson at 267-6329.
