Roseburg to Coos Bay RelayThe 31st edition of the Roseburg to Coos Bay Relay will be held on April 19. Five-person teams will cover the 67-mile course, with each team member running three legs varying from approximately 3 to 6 miles.
The relay route follows the historic Coos Bay Military Wagon Road, which travels mostly through sparsely populated remote areas of the Oregon Coast Range. The beautiful scenery and peaceful solitude of the little-used road provide a stimulating background for the race, a press release said.
There also will be a 23-mile walk relay, which starts at LaVerne Park on the North Fork of the Coquille River. It follows the scenic North Fork for about 5 miles and joins the run course at Fairview.
The South Coast Running Club and the Camp Millennium Committee sponsor this event. It is a benefit for Camp Millennium, which provides recreational opportunities for children living with cancer.
For details and an entry form, those interested can write the South Coast Running Club, P.O. Box 187, Allegany, OR, 97407; or call 267-6329, 396-5910 or 269-0263.
